Slump? What Slump? Despite the slow motorcycle sales in 2008, Kawasaki Motors hasn't let off the throttle for 2009. Continuing its trend of delivering more and more new models each coming model year late this decade, Team Green unveiled more new models this weekend at its annual dealer meeting held in Dallas, Texas.
With a star-studded celebrity line-up presenting each model to the stage, the morning meeting was jam-packed with information. Kawasaki sure does live up to its motto, letting the Good Times Roll. It doesn't see any reason to let off the throttle in what appear to be economic difficulties.

Cruisers make up 35% of the total street and dirt bikes sold in the U.S., and Kawasaki is addressing this market with a new cruiser, the Vulcan 1700. Kawasaki is retiring the old 1600cc V-Twin cruiser powerplant in favor of this new engine and chassis that underpins four new models. It starts with the basic Vulcan Classic stripped-down cruiser, then morphs into the Classic LT version with a... [Read More]

"These things don't belong on the street!"
This has become the cry of the rational motorcyclist when the subject of modern literbikes comes up. But what if you could have virtually all of the same performance-driven componentry and research and development that go into most superbikes in a motorcycle with roughly 30-35% less spank? Would most riders, young and old, veteran and newbie, feel like they could handle such a bike? Apparently, yes.
Supersports, or more commonly, 600s, are red-hot sellers. Editor Duke reported back from his time at the U.S. launch of the 2008 R6 that the tuning fork company... [Read More]

The OEMs are grateful for these kinds of kids, as they are the prime demographic for the quartet of outrageously fast and capable machines assembled here.
Does anyone need a bike with an insane power-to-weight ratio that exceeds million-dollar cars? No! But is there a large group of adult-aged kids with a ravenous appetite for adrenaline? Hell,... [Read More]
